Released in November 2019, on Brighton's Kin-Aesthetic Recordings, 'The Golden Lagoon' is a concept album, taking you on a journey through the parallel dimension of King Lagoon. With mysterious yet descriptive soundscapes linking the party music, the journey tells stories visiting various tropical scenes and finally heading out into space.

It's now available on all streaming platforms and for purchase in both high-quality digital formats and on limited edition 180g vinyl, which comes complete with original album artwork in a colourful A2 poster.

Since its release, the album was quickly chosen by cult British record shop and label Mr Bongo as one of its top records of the year. It has received radio play on BBC6 Music and other stations from masterful DJs like Gilles Peterson, Lauren Laverne and Gideon Coe.

"A royal tropical island cruise party... racing through the multicoloured jungle in your favourite golden pants."

Founded with musicians from Brighton and London, and led by multi-instrumentalist Rodrigo Kerr, King Lagoon's Flying Swordfish Dance Band are an explosion of musical technicolour. Fusing melodies and rhythms from Africa, South America and more, the band has created a unique style of fresh, powerful, fun, highly energetic music.

A full live show includes curated Aroma, lights, exploding-star balloons, costumes, special effects, audience participation, and a crowd-surfing flamingo... transporting you to a fantastic faraway land.
The creation of aromas through burning oils and incense, pulverising fruit and boiling herbs accompanies the music to create a hypnotic and immersive spectacle.

The band are proud to have played at many great venues such as Rich Mix (London), SWG3 (Glasgow), and Concorde 2 (Brighton); and at festivals in the UK and Europe, including Wildeburg, La Briche Fontaine, Bestival, Shambala All Together Now and Eden.

"Their intoxicating psychedelic tropical grooves combined with a mind-blowing light show and a cauldron of aromas is a truly unique experience. Their most recent show for Movimientos at Passing Clouds blew me away. Musically I love all the styles the band are incorporating from Exotica to Maracatu, Cumbia, and Soukouss and all the many places in between."
Cal Simpson, Movimientos, Director

Impossible not to dance to, smile and absolutely love. "
